Hi Mike,
Got the stand on and it works really well. I added two 9/16" washers (5/8 was a bit to big but 9/16 fit the space like a glove) to it. This moved it about as far right as it could go. I was hoping that by moving to the right side the stand would not hit on its way down but still rubs the center stand as it moves past it. Not a big deal, just something that I will get used to. I ended up removing about 1/4 inch from the rubber stopper. This allowed the stopper bolt to bottom out on its shank. I then moved the nut to the other side of the stop mount and put some lock tight on it. It was a bit tight to get a wrench on that side so I used pliers.
OK, so the good=
1) balance point is spot on
2)stand is very sturdy when in the up position
3)the stand is completely up and out of the way when retracted
4) easy to pull up (with rack on the back)
5) for the little bit of weight it adds it is a great improvement over just a side stand alone
And the small not so good
1) side stand rubs center stand on its way past
2) You cannot get at the foot pedal if you have your passenger pegs on. I was going to take mine off anyway so this just gave me another reason to get it done.
3) Rubber stopper does not look like it is going to last very long but we will see. Stand comes up really fast and hard. I have found a way to kinda get my foot in the way as it comes up just to keep it from hitting so hard on the stopper.
You have a great product here Mike. It is a snap to install once I had the secrets.
I will send you my Husky build pics later today.
More user input coming as I get it out there and abuse it.
Randy
As Randy describes the center stand and side stand will touch one another when putting down the side stand. And the way the side stand comes up against the center stand press down leg. You just about have to put the side stand down to deploy the center stand. the clearance needed to make sure the chain does not fub on the center stand while under acceleration requires the center stand be placed that far to the left. I have noticed that TEs that have been used alot the side stand becomes sloppy with use and the clearance problem becomes less of a problem as time goes on. On the bike I fit the prototype to they did not hit one another. But does happen on some of the TEs.
I will make an adjustment on the stopper so that the height adjustment for the retracted position will be easier to accomplish. I will also include better instructions for the stands installation so that there are no secrets.
The feedback I receive only helps me make the stands better and it is greatly appreciated. And I am more then happy to refund the money for any of the products I make if owners are not happy with the products.
Thanks to everyone that has purchased the stands and for their feed back. It has been more of a group design in perfecting these stands then anything else. Especially the first owners that received the unimproved design. Almost all of the problems have been solved by them and they deserve the credit for the good. I will take the blame for the bad.
One more thing. I will make custom heights at no extra charge. If you have lowered your bike. Please let me know. With your help I will be able to get a height more suited to your bike.
Cigar Mike
